Louis Riel Day
On November 16th we celebrate Louis Riel Day across the Métis homelands. We commemorate this day of his execution in 1885 and remember the political gains he made through the establishment of a Provisional Government in Manitoba and negotiating Manitoba into Confederation. This laid the groundwork for his vision of a Canada that included the Métis Nation and protected Métis rights.
The Indigenous Grassroots Circle along with the City of Clarence-Rockland will be raising the Métis flag in honour of Louis Riel on November 16th at 12:30pm at Du Moulin Park. All are welcome to join.
